Using the Oh–Schwarz spectral invariants and some arguments of Frauenfelder, Ginzburg, and Schlenk, we show that the π1-sensitive Hofer– Zehnder capacity of any subset of a closed symplectic manifold is less than or equal to its displacement energy.
